Mothers Trust Service Meeting Blog February 15, 2012

This morning we reviewed 17 cases, which included 2 which were held over from the week before.  10 of the 17 grants today were for families with a disabled family member.  We had 12 volunteers in attendance and were very happy to have Kate Ceithaml, Outreach Coordinator, from The Lake County Haven in Libertyville with us today.  The Lake County Haven empowers homeless women and children to achieve permanent independent living.  Today we were able to make $3,294 in grants to needy familes like:

  • Car repairs for two different familes with disabled mothers and children
  • Tuition for two different families with children who grapple with drug and behavioral problems to attend a wilderness trip
  • School uniforms for a 15 year old girl who's mother has just regained guardianship
  • School fees to allow a student to graduate from high school
  • Repairs to a bicycle for a disabled boy recently recovered from several surgeries
  • Class fees for a high school girl to attend an advanced placement exam review to gain the science credit that she needs to graduate on time
  • Tuition for a disabled student to attend several activity programs this spring and summer
  • A therapy chair and toys for a disabled child

Thank you for all who attended.  See you all next week.
